Have you ever done or felt some of the things, the characters did? Use their feedback to improve the review. If you have a specialty -- romance, mystery, dark fantasy -- cultivate it, become an expert. Do you know how to write a book review? The setting When looking at the characters, talk about whether you felt drawn to them.
Well, for a moment. Has the author ignored important aspects of the subject? Organize them into a coherent assessment of the book. So I did what any other resourceful writer on deadline would do; I panicked. What was the story about? Do not introduce new material at this point.
If there are footnotes, do they provide important information? Begin reading the book carefully. If this is the best book you have ever read, say so -- and why.
How accurate is the information? Make note of important omissions. Make notes as you read, passages to quote in your review. Whether yes or no, discuss what it was about the writing that made you feel this way.
Set the tone of the review. Suitable for the intended audience? Perhaps the author has written in an emotional style — consider the humor, lightness or darkness used.
Do you have a least favorite part of the book? Compare the book to others by this author, or books in this field by other authors. What type of person would like this book?
As you finish reading the book, review your notes and reflect on the opinions you have formed.[Parenthetically, writing an academic/scholarly book review may present an opportunity to get published.
